Onyx

Onyx is a captivating photo collection inspired by the iconic imagery of a classic 1970s-style photograph featuring a Black woman, exuding strength and allure while elegantly smoking a cigarette. In response to this powerful image, my photoshoot captures the essence of Black womanhood, celebrating our inherent power and fierceness. Each image is a homage to cultural relics and norms prevalent in Black households and communities, intertwining nostalgia with contemporary vision. Through Onyx, I aim to showcase the resilience and beauty of black women, while paying homage to their enduring legacy.
